Why role models are important
Copy until you have your own style
You want to start a work, or learn something new but you don’t know how or from where to start? The problem is you don’t have your own path yet, my advice for you: try to find a role model and copy until you have your own path.
And that’s okay. You will do exactly the same things first without understanding but after that you will find your own way.
You can have more than one role model in every field you like, maybe one role model in the IT field and other in marketing etc…
When you find one, all what you have to do is taking the works or projects that you believe are perfect and try to make them again. You can even add your own way as you go.
Maybe you have a book you like?
Take one of your favorite ideas from it and expand it into a story.
See someone with a career you thought was incredible?
Try to do the same things.
Read a great article which had great details about a topic?
Copy it out word for word, and then rewrite it in your own style. How you will repeat the same story but in your way and add your personality on it, try it like that.
To be able to have a personalize path takes time yes but need practice too, and when you start keep in mind that what is obvious and simple for you is amazing to someone else so just trust yourself.
At some point or the other, we all have to overcome an adverse situation. Every big name and almost every successful person has had to overcome a large obstacle in order to reach the place they are in. Understanding how your role model overcame their challenges and hurdles help you prepare to deal with future drawbacks. Their journey is something you can closely observe.
You need to keep in mind that no one is going to care as much about your work as you, at the same time, no one is going to be as proud of the things you make as you, that’s why you’ve got to be the one cheering yourself on.
I used to see the work of others and think that they made it because they have experience or something better. I was wrong. I should’ve used it as inspiration and start my work from the beginning and use this Inspiration to make my own work better.
One of the major advantages of having someone as a role model is that they act as a constant source of inspiration. They motivate you to get work done and also show you why it’s important to always be inspired. They show you why hard work and the right headspace is a good road to take in order to become successful. Looking up to someone who is always making an impact or a change in someone’s life instills that thought in your head too.
Be realistic and don’t compare your day 1 to someone else’s day 100. You’re writing your own story ; write it in your own way and your own speed.
Its okay to copy your favorites, combine them all and then came with your own version.
